Citrix Client Access Solutions

In order to utilize the Citrix Application Delivery System at MUSC, it will be necessary to install one of two clients..

  1. Citrix Local Client : The local client is the best solution when accessing Citrix delivered apps. By installing the local Citrix client, you are enabling your computer to access advanced features, such as USB port mapping, audio streaming and client/printer mapping. The local client will be delivered automatically if one is not installed on your system, as soon as you try to launch an application. The local client is the recommended method of access when connection to the MUSC Citrix Farm.

  2. Citrix Java Client : If your local computer has Java installed, the Citrix Web Interface server will launch a universal Java client that communicates with the JICA scripts on the web server, making it possible to run applications without installing an additional client. While convenient, the Java client comes with some limitations. Additional USB and printer ports are not available, and client printing is not available.

How do I get these clients?

The MUSC Citrix clients can be obtained by downloading them here:

Windows 32 bit - v10.200:

Web client (can only access clients via a web browser)
Full Client (includes web access, PNA and local desktop access)

Macintosh Universal Client: v10.00.603

Macintosh web client (OSX 10.3 and above)
Mac Web Client for PPC (OSX v10.2 only)

Note: Macintosh users who desire to use Safari will NOT be able to install the local client. In order for Safari to remain fast, it prohibits the installation of external clients. We recommend that Mac users utilize Firefox instead.
