MUSC has been operating under XenApp Presentation Server v4.5 since January 2007. Advances in the delivery system make it advantageous to begin the upgrade process for XenApp 6.0, which is an application delivery system, utilizing Server Virtualization, Microsoft Server 2008 R2 (64bit operating system), and 10gbe network access.
For the most part, users will never notice a difference, with exception to perhaps the applications working better, faster, with greater reliability. Through server virtualization, we are able to create creater redundancy of applications, with a much smaller physical footprint, therefore making MUSC a greener and more efficient enterprise.
Just login with your NetID login as you always have, and you will see that the main site is very much the same. Please note, that as one of the security measures, if the web interface times out, you will need to close the browser and and re-open it again in order to create a new session. Once your session is closed, there is no way to reconnect that particular session. (this only refers to the web interface session. Once an application has started, the Web Interface is no longer needed and can be closed).
Should you experience any problems with the new site, please send an email to citrix@musc.edu and explain in detail the problems you are having, or contact the Help Desk at 2-9700.
